Saam Fu Celebrates Chinese New Year 2025 on Kauai

Ringing in the Year of the Snake on Kaua‘i

Once again, Saam Fu celebrated the Chinese New Year on the Garden Island. It was a busy weekend for our team as the festivities started early on the morning of Friday, February 7th. The team went straight from the airport to our first performance at Kaua‘i Montessori Preschool. From there it was off to Princeville Center, where an enthusiastic crowd was eager to feed the lions.

Next came an afternoon lion dance at the Walmart in Lihue, followed by a visit to the new Hale Lihue. The team capped off the first day at the ever popular Art Night in Hanapepe. There, hundreds of spectators and merchants were thrilled to feed red envelopes to our lions to bring them good luck for the coming year.

Day two of the Year of the Snake celebrations began at Kaua‘i museum. Finally, our team wrapped up our lion dance performances at Kukui Grove Center where the team blessed various stores and vendors around the shopping mall.

Saam Fu is honored to help celebrate this island tradition with our friends on Kaua‘i for yet another year. We hope to see you again!

If you’re already thinking about having an authentic lion dance blessing for the Year of the Horse 2026 it’s always a good idea to book early. Our schedule does fill up quickly approaching the Chinese New Year season.
